Troubleshoot the Tenwrite Plugin

Use this page when the Tenwrite plugin is installed but the SEO sync behavior does not look right.

Open Tools > Tenwrite in WordPress admin.

Check these rows first:

  • Detected Adapters — shows whether Yoast SEO or Rank Math is active
  • REST Meta Registration — confirms the plugin registered its meta correctly
  • Last Sync Summary — shows the latest sync result
  • Errors / Traceback — shows recorded error lines and tracebacks when something fails

SEO values are not showing up in WordPress

Section titled “SEO values are not showing up in WordPress”

Check:

  • the Tenwrite plugin is active
  • Yoast SEO or Rank Math is active
  • the export or update actually included supported SEO fields

If neither Yoast SEO nor Rank Math is active, the plugin stores the SEO data but does not mirror vendor-specific fields.

I installed Yoast SEO or Rank Math after older posts were already exported

Section titled “I installed Yoast SEO or Rank Math after older posts were already exported”

Go to Tools > Tenwrite and use Re-sync Existing Posts.

This backfills existing posts that already store Tenwrite SEO data.

I updated SEO frontmatter in Google Docs, but WordPress did not change

Section titled “I updated SEO frontmatter in Google Docs, but WordPress did not change”

Updating the Google Doc does not update WordPress by itself.

After changing frontmatter:

  1. save the Google Doc
  2. return to Tenwrite
  3. run Sync Post or export again

Those fields are likely already set in Google Docs frontmatter.

When frontmatter controls a field:

  • update it in the Google Doc
  • or remove it from frontmatter
  • then run Sync Post if you want WordPress updated

Frontmatter changes seem to override what I typed in Tenwrite

Section titled “Frontmatter changes seem to override what I typed in Tenwrite”

That is expected when frontmatter provides a value for the same field.

During export and sync flows, frontmatter wins for the fields it sets.

The plugin is active, but the diagnostics page shows no adapters

Section titled “The plugin is active, but the diagnostics page shows no adapters”

That means Yoast SEO and Rank Math were not detected.

Check that:

  • the SEO plugin is installed
  • it is activated on the same site
  • you are using a supported self-hosted WordPress site

I connected a WordPress.com site and the plugin workflow is unclear

Section titled “I connected a WordPress.com site and the plugin workflow is unclear”

The current plugin workflow is intended for self-hosted WordPress sites.

WordPress.com support is a separate integration path and is not part of the current shipped flow.

When you contact support, include:

  • your WordPress version
  • whether you use Yoast SEO or Rank Math
  • the action you took in Tenwrite
  • the message shown in Last Sync Summary
  • any lines shown in Errors / Traceback

If you’re still stuck, email support@tenwrite.com with the steps you took, the error message, and your WordPress site URL.
