Connect Google files, Blogger, and Search Console
Signing in opens your Tenwrite account. It does not automatically give Tenwrite access to your documents, Blogger blogs, or Search Console data. Connect each feature when you need it.
Which connection do you need?
Section titled “Which connection do you need?”| What you want to do | Connection |
|---|---|
| Select a Google Doc or Sheet | Google files |
| Load your Blogger blogs or publish to them | Blogger |
| View Google Search performance | Search Console, from the selected site’s settings |
Connecting one feature does not mean you have connected the others. You can upload a supported local file to WordPress without connecting Google files. Publishing that file to Blogger still needs a Blogger connection.
Choose the right Google account
Section titled “Choose the right Google account”For Google files, Blogger, and Search Console, use the Google account with the same email address as your Tenwrite account. This also applies if you signed in to Tenwrite with an email link.
That Google account needs access to the files or blogs you want to use. If a document belongs to someone else, they need to share it with the account you connect. To save frontmatter changes, that account must be able to edit the Google Doc.
For Search Console, the site owner connects that matching Google account, which must also have access to the required Search Console property. If the property belongs to another Google account, arrange property access for the account you connect. See the SEO Tracker setup guide.
Connect Google files
Section titled “Connect Google files”- Open the task that uses a Google Doc or Sheet, such as New Export or Sheets automation setup.
- Click its document or spreadsheet picker button. In the export form, the button is Google Docs.
- If Google asks for permission, review the request and allow access with the account described above.
- Select the file you want to use.
Some screens show Connect Google files or Connect Google files to select a Google Doc instead. Use that button, then return to the picker.
You do not need Blogger access to choose a Google file. Selecting a spreadsheet also does not give Tenwrite access to every Google Doc linked from its rows.
Connect Blogger
Section titled “Connect Blogger”- Open Blogger > My Sites.
- If prompted, click Connect Blogger.
- Allow Blogger access with the Google account matching your Tenwrite account.
- Wait for Tenwrite to load the blogs that account can access.
Connecting Blogger does not publish a post. If access is connected but no blogs appear, use the checks in Connect Blogger.
Connect Search Console
Section titled “Connect Search Console”- Open the selected site’s Site Settings and find Google Search Console.
- Click Connect Google.
- Choose the Google account matching your Tenwrite email address. It must have access to the site’s Search Console property. Complete the permission step.
- Select the property and content hostname, then save the connection.
Only the site owner can change this connection. Site members can view the resulting performance data when the site owner’s plan includes SEO Tracker.
Connecting Google files or Blogger does not complete Search Console setup. Follow the SEO Tracker guide for the full property and hostname steps.
Reconnect only the feature that needs attention
Section titled “Reconnect only the feature that needs attention”You can stay signed in to the web app while reconnecting Google access.
| Message or problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Google files access needs to be renewed | Click Reconnect Google files, then try the file action again. |
| Blogger access needs to be renewed | Click Reconnect Blogger, then return to the blog or publishing action. |
| Tenwrite could not check saved Google access | Try Retry Google access check. If access still needs renewal, use the reconnect button for that feature. |
| Search Console needs reconnecting | Open the site’s Search Console settings and click Reconnect Google. |
| A Search Console property is missing | Check the connected account and its property access, then choose Reload properties. |
Cancelling a Google permission popup does not sign you out of Tenwrite. You can try again when ready. If the popup did not open, allow popups for Tenwrite in your browser and retry.
If Tenwrite says the connected account does not match, check the email address you use for Tenwrite and choose the matching Google account. Contact support@tenwrite.com if the account still cannot connect.
Permissions for automations
Section titled “Permissions for automations”Automations need access to their source even when you are not using the app:
- Drive automation: share the watched folder with the automation account shown in the setup guide. Choosing a file in the manual picker does not share that folder.
- Sheets automation: select the spreadsheet through the picker and keep edit access to it. A Google Doc linked in a row has its own sharing requirements; selecting the Sheet does not grant access to that Doc.
- Blogger destination: Blogger publishing access is separate from access to the source folder or spreadsheet.
Follow the setup for WordPress Drive, Blogger Drive, WordPress Sheets, or Blogger Sheets.
If you use the Google Docs add-on
Section titled “If you use the Google Docs add-on”The installed add-on handles its Google connection inside Google Docs. If it says the connection needs to be renewed, close and reopen the add-on. Reconnecting a feature in the web app is a different flow.
See Install and use the Google Docs add-on for its setup steps.
